This was an old oak tree that stood on the farm and when it fell I took a slab to make memory of the old owl that once called it home....a reuniting of spirits....this piece of art is all done with a hot knife and the image burnt into the slab....Pyrography (wood burning)......

My favorite of your pieces! Curious - did you cut the oak slab yourself? How did you find it to work with?

Thanks Loring...yes I did...I cut it with a chainsaw then spent about 10 hours sanding it smooth...that was the hard part...it was find to burn into.. actually much easier than pine..less grain hard soft areas
